Abby Olena is a science writer and educator who also leads workshops on communication for scientists. Until June 2016, she was a postdoctoral fellow in Science & Society at Duke University, where she focused on getting scientists the communication tools they need to share their work with non-scientists. She has a PhD in biological sciences from Vanderbilt University, and she has been the editorial intern at The Scientist and a AAAS Mass Media Fellow at the Chicago Tribune.
Science is complex. But once we have a better understanding of the latest science, we can use that knowledge to inform public policy more effectively.
