How do we read Jewish texts in light of new scientific knowledge?
How do we look at high-stakes topics — such as genetic engineering, climate change, or artificial intelligence — through the lens of both Judaism and science?
What’s the relationship among religious truth, scientific truth and political and historical truth? Explore these questions with Rabbi Geoff Mitelman, Founding Director of Sinai and Synapses, which bridges the worlds of religion and science. We’ll be speaking with some of the leading scientists, thinkers and academics on topics ranging from the theological implications of life on other planets to the psychology that has turned politics into religion. We’ll also be exploring the links between scientific and halakhic ways of thinking — how much is each focused on content and facts, and how much is each focused on a process and a dynamic?
This class will be recorded and available to enrolled students to watch later.
