Star Trek is widely regarded as the first major science fiction series to portray space science seriously and accurately. Andre Bormanis, a former Star Trek science consultant, writer and producer, and Armin Shimerman, an actor who portrayed the alien character Quark, will explore how Star Trek engaged with both scientific and existential questions, and how Leonard Nimoy, who played the iconic Vulcan Science Officer Spock in the original series and a number of subsequent Star Trek movies, brought his Judaic identity into his character and the larger Star Trek universe.
