The Bible we read is a translation, and often through multiple different languages — most commonly, Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. And just like idioms and phrases in other languages don’t translate into English, an understanding of the Hebrew, its context and its meaning can help us understand what it means for us today. We’ll look at a few common biblical phrases and what they really meant in their context — like how we often misunderstand at least three of the Ten Commandments!
