Mathematicians, theologians, and even children ponder the nature of the infinite. We’ll explore (in an accessible, interactive way!) how math concepts can help illuminate some big ideas in Judaism/religion, including: the value of life, commandments, and the coexistence of God’s transcendence and immanence.
Dr. Larry Lesser is a mathematics education professor (and UTEP Distinguished Teaching Professor) at The University of Texas at El Paso. He has several awards for his teaching and outreach and his 115 papers include several on connections between mathematics and Judaism.
Higher Meanings: Connecting Religion and Mathematics is a series in partnership with Temple Mount Sinai and the Scientists in Synagogues initiative of Sinai and Synapses. Join us for meaningful and engaging discussions examining links between Judaism and mathematics. No expertise needed to explore many angles in both realms.
