To kick off its 18-month Scientists in Synagogues program, run in consultation with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Dialogue on Science, Ethics and Religion (DoSER), Congregation Shir Hadash in Los Gatos, CA will explore the question of the compatibility of science and religion with three short films and community conversation. Highlighting Jewish perspectives, they will include a short film presentation by Mayim Bialik as well as materials of a general nature from the AAAS. They will also focus on how we approach the traditions of the High Holy Day period given the scientific mindset of most members of the Jewish community since studies show that, unlike Christians, when Jews feel that science and religion conflict, they choose science overwhelmingly.
